Transformation through art.
Claire Daly is the artistic director of a new not-for-profit 501(c)3 called Outside Insight, Inc.
"Music has reached me and changed my life in clear moments. I was never the same after hearing my first jazz concert. Transformation. First time I heard The Fringe, Rahsaan, Coltrane -- transformed. Never the same."
I am committed to creating the space for listeners to be reached in suprising ways and to come away with new insights through music and multimedia events.

Outside Insight, Inc presents:
Claire Daly’s “Rah! Rah!” Band
The “Rah! Rah!” Band, led by NYC baritone saxophonist Claire Daly, is a remarkable combination of worldly musicians who are focusing their attention on the music and spirit of Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Claire utilizes alums from Rahsaan's bands whenever possible.
One of the great qualities of Rahsaan was his simultaneous inclusion of both the history and the future of music. He crossed all lines of style, mixing old tunes, originals and pop tunes without patronizing any of them. This is one of our goals. His life was the ultimate testimony to a jazz life, overcoming obstacles (including blindness) and making music constantly, on as many as 3 horns at once. An unstoppable force, Rahsaan continues to bring people together to celebrate life through the joy of sound. Bright Moments!
TOPPY JOYCE
A free spirit explorer
Mary “Toppy” Joyce was Daly’s second cousin. In the 1930s, she moved to Alaska as a nurse to Hack Smith, who passed away from heart failure a few years later. In 1936, she embarked on a 1,000-mile journey by dogsled, solo. The first non-Alaskan to attempt this, she became a national hero, unbeknownst to many Americans! This most unconventional and inspiring American woman is the subject of a suite of music from Claire Daly and Steve Hudson. This piece can be performed with text about Mary’s life, with video footage of Mary’s route (which became the Alcan Highway), or as a music presentation w/ 3 horns, rhythm section and string quartet.
This is a musical story about a truly free-spirited American woman.

...Jazz Music with Spoken Word
|
Writer and performer of spoken word Kirpal Gordon has paired up with The Claire Daly Quartet (and special guests) to present a combination of jazz and spoken word unlike anything you’ve heard. Music and words teamed up in unique ways. His “sheets of sound” delivery is grounded by a solid jazz group, making him an equal member of the band. He is an amazing wordslinger, with the sensibility of a great jazz soloist.

2 Sisters, Inc.
…2 baris, one mind, and a bass
|
This unusual combination of 2 reeds and a string instrument, rollicking about the low register, has mesmerized audiences since 2005. The group, consisting of Claire Daly, Dave Sewelson (bari saxes) and Dave Hofstra (bass) have performed in many NY Jazz Venues, as well as the Blues to Bop Festival in Lugano, Switzerland, the NY JazzImprov Live Convention/Festival and the Freestyle Creative Music Series. Their original compositions like “Scaribari”, “Razzbari”, “Neither Here Nor There” and many more are created by the group in their regular composing/playing sessions.
