Claire studied composition at the Berklee College of Music with Tony Texiera, Alex Ulanowski, Bob Chestnut and Alex Ellin, among others.
Claire has composed, with pianist Steve Hudson, a CDs worth of music dedicated to her father's first cousin, Mary Joyce, the first non-Alaskan to mush from Juneau to Fairbanks by dogsled in 1936. A fascinating story of American History featuring a remarkable and unconventional woman. This piece can be performed in a multi-media presentation, or as a musical event.
"Every tune clicks with varied textures and forms" Jon Garelick, Downbeat
Her lyrical sensibility plays a large part in her writing. Her melodies are durable and are often combined with unconventional harmony. From the most melodic beauty to raging modernism, Daly's writing covers the waterfront of style.
